Open Letter to My Uncle

Dear Uncle Sam:

I just read in USA Today that the U.S. Federal Government’s financial situation “deteriorated rapidly” last year under the mountain of debt that the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has buried us under. Article here.

Also mentioned in the article is the $534,000 per household obligation of the aforementioned mountain of debt. I am writing to tell you Sam, that I can’t make my first payment on that $534,000 or any subsequent payments for that matter. Since 9.1% of us are unemployed I would guess those folks are in the same boat as I am, and also unable to make their monthly payment on the back debt.

I am very sorry I have allowed the credit card to get this high but it was all stuff I needed. I mean most of it I can’t give back to the store you know because I have already used it, but I feel just awful. I am not sure where this leaves me, I mean like do I lose privileges like prison or healthcare?

Well anyway, I am sorry I had to write this note but I simply can’t afford it.

Thanks!

Your nephew
